Tallow is a type of rendered fat that comes from cows. Real Tallow is technically only rendered Suet, an insulatory fat not connected to meat. While some may call rendered scrap fat, trim, or pan drippings "Cooking Tallow", Suet Tallow is much higher quality and purity and is the best option for skincare.

Grass Fed and Finished means the cattle we source our tallow from eat nothing but vitamin and nutrient-dense wild pasture grass. Grass fed alone can still mean that cows are fattened up on grains on feed lots. Grass fed and finished ensures the highest quality, most nutrient dense tallow.

Grass Fed & Finished tallow has the healthiest fat composition and highest concentration of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), one of the healthiest fatty acids for your skin.

Beef Suet is the internal insulation fat prized for its purity and superior quality over scrap or trim. Suet Tallow is the rendered, purified form of Suet, and has little to no beefy smell. This type of tallow is almost identical to our skin's natural oils and has remarkable anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.

Untamed Tallow won't clog pores in small quantities, much like our skin's natural oils. Tallow has a low comedogenic score, but if you use far too much you're essentially mimicking a teenager's oily skin and making pores more prone to clogging. We recommend starting small and working your way up to your meet your skin's needs.

Yes! You can use Untamed Tallow head to toe! Start small and make sure to avoid getting it in your eyes or eyelashes.

For the face, we recommend starting with a small, pea-sized dab on your forehead, and half of that on each cheek. Spread that in, and if your skin feels like it needs some more, you can always add more. A little goes a long way!

Our tallow moisturizers are non-greasy, and in fact, they have a slightly dry feel thanks to the high quality suet tallow and jojoba oil's non-greasy moisturizing properties.

Our tallow moisturizer can be helpful for certain types of acne for a few reasons.

Tallow itself is almost bioidentical to our skin's natural oils, so it won't disrupt skin's sensitive balance or contribute to clogged pores.

Tallow contains anti-inflammatory fatty acids like conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which helps shrink and soothe pimples.

Untamed Tallow Moisturizer's other ingredients like calendula-infused jojoba oil have anti-inflammatory benefits to help soothe acne prone skin.

Ingredients like royal jelly promote collagen production and skin cell turnover, helping pimples run their course quicker and bringing healthy skin cells to the surface.

The anti-microbial properties of bee propolis and wildflower honey help eliminate acne-causing bacteria.

Our tallow is good for a year and a half at room temperature, but if you would like to extend the shelf life, you can refrigerate it when not being used. If you do refrigerate it, please note the texture will be firm until warmed up between hands.

We recommend applying our tallow moisturizer on slightly damp skin after showering or washing your face. Our tallow acts like a topical supplement of your skin's natural oils, so use it after washing to replenish your skin's natural moisture.

Our 2oz jar is generally a 3-6 month supply depending on usage, and each jar has a shelf life of 1.5 years.

Cooking tallow generally refers to scrap fat or pan drippings from ground beef. This intramuscular fat is fantastic for giving your foods a rich, beefy flavor, but unfortunately, it will likely cause breakouts and make you smell like a steak. We only recommend using cosmetic-grade tallow like our triple-rendered Suet Tallow.

Our tallow is sourced from up in colder climates because we are only using suet, the insulatory fat. Down in Florida, it doesn't get cold enough in the winter, so the suet is not as high quality and you tend to see people selling trim-based tallow balms.

We know that suet tallow is the best for skincare, and we refuse to compromise, even if that means sourcing the best from the other side of the country.

If your tallow arrives gritty, that generally means that the tallow melted and resolidified during transit. This causes a change in texture, but the quality of the tallow balm is unchanged.

The texture can be returned to normal by placing the jar in a shallow pot of warm water with a towel under the jar. Warm the jar until the tallow is melted, remove from heat, and mix while cooling

This generally happens when the jar is partially used and then left open or unused for a long period of time. It can also happen when the bottom of the jar melts and resolidifies in transit. This can be fixed by placing the jar in a shallow pot of warm water with a towel under the jar. Warm the jar until the tallow is melted, remove from heat, and mix while cooling

There are many different types of eczema, and everyone's skin is different, but we have had many customers see tremendous relief from our Unscented and Bee-Free Tallow Moisturizers. Tallow hydrates skin and strengthens the skin barrier without disrupting the skin's delicate microbiome and lipid balance.

Tallow is exclusively fat, and collagen is a protein. If tallow is properly rendered and filtered, it should NOT contain collagen, as it poses a contamination risk.

Tallow does promote the body's natural collagen synthesis process, helping improve skin's elasticity and firmness.

We do not make whipped tallow - yet. Whipping tallow incorporates air, which accelerates oxidation and shortens the shelf life considerably. Whipping also pulls whatever is floating in the air into the tallow, creating a risk for microbial growth.

Until we can ensure a pure, shelf stable end-product, we will not be making a whipped tallow balm.

Our special cooling process gives our tallow a smooth, spreadable texture that glides over the skin without feeling greasy.

Olive oil's fatty acid composition is very different from our skin's natural oils and defeats the purpose of the skin-compatible tallow. Instead, we use Organic Cold-Pressed Jojoba Oil, which is more like a liquid wax and mimics our skin's natural waxes. Tallow and Jojoba combined are far more skin-compatible than Tallow and Olive Oil. Olive oil also leaves a greasy feeling on the skin that dry, non-comedogenic jojoba oil does not.

No! Our tallow is triple-rendered and filtered for purity without bleaching or deodorizing. Our tallow has a light, natural scent that is barely even there. We don't use beefy-smelling trim, scrap, or cooking tallow. Only the highest quality grass fed and finished beef suet tallow.

The color of tallow varies season to season from a bright white to a rich, creamy yellow. The color variation comes from the cow's grass-fed diet. Natural carotenoids like beta-carotene are stored in the fat, making each batch of yellow tallow even more nutrient-loaded than usual!

The tallow in our pain relief balm is just the base, instead of paraffin wax or petroleum jelly. Tallow's skin-compatibility allows all of the pain-relieving ingredients to sink down deep into the muscles and joints, not just sit on the surface. Absolutely not. All of our scented moisturizers are lightly scented with natural essential oils.

We use a natural preservative derived from Elderberries to keep our products shelf stable. Many tallow companies will say they do not need a preservative because their product does not contain water, but if the formula contains honey, a preservative is necessary due to honey's humectant properties.

Yes! We recommend using tallow a few minutes before applying makeup to allow the tallow to absorb.

Our moisturizing tallow balms are safe for all ages over 1 year old. For infants, nursing mothers, and those with sensitivity to honey, we recommend our Bee-Free tallow balm.

Our moisturizers are not recommended for use on pets. If your dog accidentally eats our moisturizer, it is non-toxic and generally not dangerous, but contact your local veterinarian for advice.

Yes! We recommend our Unscented or Bee-Free moisturizing tallow balms for ultra-sensitive skin, but all of our moisturizers are lightly scented with sensitive skin in mind.

As an under-eye cream or for crows feet, absolutely! Avoid contact with your eyes and eyelashes, as anything occlusive, such as petroleum jelly, can trap bacteria.

Our tallow moisturizer works great as a post-shave balm, and some of our customers use it instead of shaving cream for a silky-smooth shave.

Tallow is an animal product, therefore, our tallow products are not vegan.

We do have customers who follow a vegan diet, and appreciate the sustainability of tallow as it offsets cost and waste from meat products.
